Random matches are the reason most people come back: you never know who the next tap brings. Notice what happened: a name, a place, then a question about something on her screen. Pointing at a detail in her background shows you are actually looking at her rather than waiting for your turn to talk. It works far better than “hi” on repeat.
And if she answers with one word and looks off camera, that is not a puzzle to solve. Say “have a good one” and move on.
If her English is limited, try a Text match next time instead. Typed messages can be translated automatically, and a few translated lines are often enough to find a shared topic, a football club, a song, a city you have both been to, before you go back to the camera.
Free matches and coins on cam

Some nights the camera just stays off. At the bottom of the match screen you can switch from Video to Audio, which keeps her voice and drops the picture, or to Text, which is typing only. The switch applies to your next match, so pick it before you tap.
A lot of people warm up with a couple of typed chats and flip back to video once they are in the mood. Typed messages can be translated automatically, which helps when her English is shaky or yours is.
